2016 marks the 10th anniversary of the Delta Community Credit Union Scholarship. To celebrate this milestone, we are looking back ten years of scholarship recipients to see where they are now and where their academic journey has led.
In this part of the series, we're checking in with our 2008 scholarship recipients who are done with their undergraduate degrees and becoming doctors. In the profiles below, Amy and Erich talk about their experiences becoming a pharmacist and a veterinarian.
Amy
Amy is now working as a pharmacist
in Atlanta
Name: Amy Evans
School: University of Georgia College of Pharmacy
Coursework: Doctor of Pharmacy
Academic Achievement: After completing two years of undergraduate coursework at the University of Georgia, Amy was accepted into the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy program. She graduated in May 2014 with her Doctor of Pharmacy.
Where is She Now: Amy is now a clinical pharmacist at an independent specialty pharmacy in Atlanta concentrating in chronic disease management. She serves patients located in the metro Atlanta area and throughout the southeast.
Career Development: While in school, Amy worked in various health care settings, including a nursing home, several hospitals, retail pharmacies and clinics. She interned for several years at a retail pharmacy prior to accepting her current position as a clinical pharmacist.

Erich
Erich is focusing on large animal
medicine in veterinary school
Name: Erich Hodges
School: Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine
Coursework: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine
On Campus: Erich graduated from Iowa State University magna cum laude with Bachelor of Science degrees in Dairy Science and Animal Science/Pre-Veterinary Medicine, as well as a minor in German. While in school, he participated in the ISU Honors Program. Erich is now a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine candidate with an emphasis in large animal medicine at Iowa State University.
Global Experience: While a freshman at ISU, Erich traveled to Bulgaria to participate in an agriculture and veterinary medicine study abroad program. Since then, he has returned to Bulgaria four times: three times on his own, and once as part of a combined Ukraine/Bulgaria study abroad program. Erich has also studied animal welfare and equine anatomy, physiology and fitness at the Scottish National Equestrian Center.
Future Plans: Erich expects to complete his graduate coursework in 2017 and plans to open an international veterinary consulting firm.
