In 2026, Delta Community will award $25,000 in scholarships to students attending historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).

HBCU Scholarship Program

Education opens doors. That’s why Delta Community Credit Union, in partnership with V-103, offers the HBCU Scholarship to support students attending historically Black colleges and universities. In 2026, we’re awarding $25,000 in scholarships to deserving scholars.

Recipients are selected based on academic achievement, community and campus involvement and an essay submission. Financial need may also be considered.

Eligibility

  1. Current undergraduates at any of the nation's HBCUs

  2. Graduating high school seniors with an official acceptance letter to an HBCU

  3. Students must be Georgia residents

How to Enter

The HBCU Scholarship application period is now closed. Check back in August for your next chance to apppy!

Three scholarships will be awarded in May 2026, and two scholarships will be awarded in November 2026.

2026 Scholars

Tyler Lawrence is a graduate of Union Grove High School who has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership and a passion for serving others. Graduating with a 4.2 GPA, Tyler challenged himself through Advanced Placement and dual enrollment coursework while remaining actively involved in his school and community. After rhabdomyolysis ended his soccer career, Tyler turned adversity into advocacy by launching a rhabdomyolysis awareness campaign that reached more than 3,000 students across his school cluster. He serves as Vice President of the Henry County NAACP Youth Council and has contributed more than 300 volunteer hours through community service and mentorship programs. This fall, Tyler will attend Morehouse College, where he plans to pursue a career as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). He hopes to address healthcare disparities in underserved communities and become the first male in his family to earn a college degree.  

2026 HBCU Winner Tyler Lawrence

Taylor Harper is an accomplished scholar, advocate and leader whose commitment to service has made a meaningful impact in her school and community. A graduate of Charles R. Drew Charter School, Taylor maintained a 4.1 GPA while completing Advanced Placement coursework and earning membership in the National Honor Society, National Beta Club and National Spanish Honor Society. She co-founded Atlanta Mind Project, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting teen mental health awareness and education. As CEO, she has led workshops, expanded access to mental health resources, and secured grant funding through community partnerships. Taylor currently serves as President of the Drew Charter Student Government Association and Student Body President after three years as class president. She also represented her peers on the Atlanta Public Schools Student Advisory Council, advocating for student wellness and equity. This fall, Taylor will attend Spelman College, where she plans to continue her work in leadership and advocacy. 

2026 HBCU Winner Taylor Harper

Camille Johnson is a Strategic Communications major with a minor in Marketing at Hampton University and a member of the university’s Honors College. Maintaining a GPA above 4.05, she has distinguished herself through academic excellence, leadership and creativity. Her accomplishments include receiving the Women in Leadership Award from the Black Is Gold Organization, being named a finalist for the Pulitzer Reporting Fellowship and earning the nationally recognized Gracie Award in Digital Media. Passionate about education and community engagement, Camille created “Color My Future,” an HBCU-themed coloring book designed to inspire young students to pursue higher education. Working alongside fellow student artists, she partnered with a local Boys & Girls Club to donate more than 35 books to children in the community.
