A Message from Our COO—An Update on COVID-19 Operations

Delta Community COO Matthew Shepherd

Dear Members,

As a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution, our employees work for you. We feel privileged to have the opportunity to serve you and are committed to being available and ready to help when needed, especially today when so many in our community are contending with challenges caused by the current public health crisis.

From an operational standpoint, Delta Community is focused on two priorities: 1) protecting the safety and health of our members and employees; and 2) sustaining the performance of our branches and 24/7 call center. To this end, we will constantly adjust and consider alternatives as circumstances with the corodivirus continue to change. We want to share the rationale for some of the actions you have seen us take recently to address any concern or inconvenience they may cause.

Local Branch Considerations. In addition to the new safety precautions and cleaning procedures we have introduced in our branches, we are screening employees daily for their potential exposure to the corodivirus. If we learn an employee has been exposed and tests positive, we are asking the entire branch team to quarantine for 14 days given the team members’ relative proximity to one another over the full workday and based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control. We then call upon a group of Ready Reserve staff we have assembled to operate the location on an appointment-only format until the permanent team is able to return safely to work.

Appointment only on Saturdays. We are refraining from intermingling branch staff for the time being to mitigate the risk of a single individual impacting multiple teams. In a normal environment, we allow employees who work at locations that do not have Saturday hours to help at our community branches that operate on Saturday mornings. Without this support, we currently can only accommodate members in our lobbies on Saturdays by appointment. We are in the process of hiring additional staff and expect to resume walk-in transactions on Saturdays later this summer.

Status of Kroger branches. We closed our three Kroger branches temporarily since the space in those locations do not permit us to implement the same safety precautions we have instituted elsewhere to achieve proper social distancing. We intend to reopen these branches as soon as practicable and will continue to maintain the ATMs there in the interim.

We encourage you to take advantage of our online and mobile banking applications and drive-thru lanes as much as possible. Of course, we will gladly welcome you if you require in-person support. You may wish to schedule an appointment at your preferred location in advance or check the status of that branch beforehand if you plan to drop by without one as your schedule permits. You can find up-to-date details on each branch under the ‘Locations & ATMs’ link on the homepage of our website.

Again, we are grateful for the confidence you place in us and always remain at your service.

Sincerely,

Matthew Shepherd
Chief Operating Officer

The new branch will offer a full suite of banking services with a staff of loan officers, tellers and member service agents. The branch features three drive-thru service lanes, a drive-up ATM and a walk-up ATM. “This location is within walking distance of our previous branch, so we know it is convenient for our members,” says Branch Manager Eddie Montgomery. “The larger space also offers room for drive-thru service lanes and dedicated parking spots in a covered deck, and we are looking forward to continued growth and success in this beautiful new facility.”

  • Making Tough Financial Choices in a Tough Economy: For those unemployed, financial hardship is a reality they are facing now or will soon face as their income has stopped or gotten smaller. Even the government’s Economic Impact Payments may provide only limited fiscal relief for Americans whose personal debt may be increasing while their funds are decreasing. With less money, it’s essential to be very careful with spending it, and to think about what you could do now to trim expenses.
